CDP actively participates in the promotion of fairtrade products by offering Max Havelaar couverture chocolate and praliné. Fairtrade/Max Havelaar is an international label co-managed by representatives of producers/growers, by fairtrade associations, by NGO’s and economic actors.
The initiative began in 1988 following a plea by Mexican coffee bean growers. The Max Havelaar/fairtrade certification for cocoa is only available to organization of small producers and family farms and not for big plantations.
